The success story ofV.K. Bansal seems something like miracle. A will to survive made him a teacher.His Courage, Determination and Vision changed the course of fate & gave him a new lease of life. He has learntto live through teaching.
Born in Jhansi on 26th October 1949, Mr. Bansal had his schooling in Lucknow, graduated inMechanical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University with Honours in 1971 and began his career as aMechanical Engineer. He has two daughters and one son.
Many people know that the Bansal Classes is run by an engineer, V.K.Bansal who had been working inJ.K.Synthetics Ltd. Kota.
But few people know about the man who turned to be a silent teacher quitting from his engineeringprofession. The success of his institute is the success ofa man, who suffers from muscular dystrophy disease.Life of Mr. Bansal has been full of ups & downs. It had been bright & cheerful till the age of25 years but in 1975he was diagnosed with a incurable disease "Muscular Dystrophy". It was shocking when his efforts to gettreatment at All MS and many other hospitals in the country failed. He consulted Ayurvedic Experts, NaturalTherapists and even doctors in UK but with no relief.
He became disturbed and life was full of disappointments. It was indeed a great misfortune. Whileserving in J. K., as a mechanical engineer, he continued his search to come out of his misfortunes.
In such a situation an advice from a doctor of London, proved to be a boon for Mr. Bansal. The doctoradvised him to turn to teaching and forget about the disease that had gripped him. It clicked and Mr. Bansalsays, "I had a sort of sensation in my mind while reading the letter from the doctor and felt that this could be thecure of my disease.
He was not sure whether he could teach engineering or other students but in 1981 he started tuitions, notfor money but for a change. The beginning was made with a 7th class student while residing in J.K. Nagar, Kota.
Mr. Bansal devoted himself to studies and teaching students in such a way that he was left with no sparetime to think about his disability.
During this period he taught Engineering Entrance Exam students. His first student to be selected forIIT/Roorkee was Anoop Kothari. It was in 1985. The number of selections went on increasing gradually yearafter year. Results of his students were so encouraging that students from all over India and neighboringcountries started approaching him.
This built his confidence further. The number of students who cracked IITJEE in 1986 from hiscoaching classes was 3 and went upto 10 in 1990. The number rose to 209 in 1999. In 1999,10 students were inthe top 100 All India Rank.
Soon he had a new building constructed near his house for coaching classes. It ran from 9 in the morningtill 9 in the night. Teaching students in groups of 15 and managing everything with dedication, devotion andhard work, became the secret ofhis success.
